I have been painting 25mm and 28mm figures, vehicles and scenery for about twenty-six years, including Essex Miniatures, Games Workshop, Privateer Press, Spartan Games, Heresy, Ral Partha, Grenadier, Reaper to name but a few.

So, why “The Gonk Machine”?  - well the term “gonk” which goes back to fairground days in the 1960’s was spouted by my wife to cover any miniature that I happened to be painting.  The nickname stuck and now the word is spreading; all minis are called “Gonks”, whether they are unhealthy looking zombies; beautiful elves; magnificent marines or even fully loaded warjacks. 
When a shop opened in Daventry called The Games Vault, I told the chap there that I could do a bit of painting for him. It was Steve who said, after noticing the sheer volume of painted gonks I was somehow able to produce, that I must have a “gonk machine” in my garage.  (Nothing to do with the late nights and early mornings). Anyway, spread the word.  They’re all called “gonks”.
